Will the weather has most certainly taken a turn for the worse this week, and air conditioning is probably the last thing on your mind at the moment. As the colder weather begins to setting, what’s the best way to keep warm? Air conditioning!

Over the past few years air conditioning is certainly become more popular in commercial and domestic properties, however it is still very widely known for its cooling use rather than for heating. Air conditioning manufacturers have now created a technology that is so efficient that the government have awarded 5% VAT on all air conditioning ( heat pump installations) for domestic clients. Now that’s saying something coming from a technology that has been notorious for being expensive and completely inefficient, times change!

Not only is air conditioning and efficient way to heat, it is also very quick and does so effortlessly. Traditionally, heating will be switched on via a thermostat located in a hallway or in a dedicated room, 20 or 30 minutes later the radiators will be hot, and in the rooms would gradually being in to warm up, until the point that the hallway or room that the dedicated thermostat was located in became satisfied and then heating would then switch off. That’s great if everyone is sat in the hallway, or the room that thermostat is in. But what happens when you’d like to control the air temperature of different rooms? Perhaps rooms within your home are best at different temperatures as people prefer their room just as they like it!

Traditional heating systems have made an attempt to achieve this, by fitting thermostatic radiator valves to the wall mounted radiators, but the simple fact is traditional radiators do not  mechanically move any air around the room, they do exactly what they say on the tin! Radiate!  This is what causes those rooms have hot or cold spots.

So how is air conditioning different?

An air-conditioned home would have an individual unit within each room, just the same as a radiator in fact. Each of those individual air conditioning units would be controlled via an infrared controller, just like your TV. Each room is then able to be set to a desired temperature, fan speed, heating or cooling and even timer settings. Each occupant of each room is able to set their exact temperature without worrying of temperature fluctuations anywhere else in the house. They could expect their room to heat to the desired temperature within three or four minutes. Also, as mentioned above as air conditioning systems have a mechanical fan all the areas moved and therefore heated evenly giving a far more comfortable feeling throughout.

The initial investment in an air conditioning system for your home is without doubt not compatible to installing a new central heating system. Like anything though you really do get what you pay for.

So, if you’re looking for a system that heats and cools, is extremely efficient and very quick to act, provide exact degree sensitive control for each room. Then heat pump air conditioning is a very efficient way to keep warm.
